The peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria are preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Rojava Revolution on 19 July. The revolution was the turning point in the life of millions in Northern and Eastern Syria.
The Mesopotamia Democratic Culture and Art Movement and Hîlala Zêrîn will organize various events this year to celebrate the anniversary.
Despite the Turkish state's attacks and the threats against Northern and Eastern Syria, TEV-ÇAND and Hîlala Zêrîn are preparing for the 19 July Revolution celebrations with artists and music groups.
Mesopotamia TEV-ÇAND co-chair Ednan Ibrahim told ANHA of the importance of the 10th anniversary celebrations for all components in Northern and Eastern Syria.
19 July: A day of democracy and peace
Ednan Ibrahim said that for the people of Northern and Eastern Syria “19 July is an historic day. It is the day of democracy, peace and rebirth. All components in the region live by Leader Abdullaj Öcalan's idea of a democratic nation system. This project is an example not only for the solution to the Kurdish problem, but for the world."
Ibrahim said that the threats by the Turkish government to the security of Northern and Eastern Syria continue and added: “Wars, conflicts and genocides are always being carried out to destroy peoples. 19 July became the shield that guaranteed the existence of the peoples and humanity in Rojava. At the same time, it was a day of celebration and democracy."
Artists from outside Rojava will attend the celebrations
Ibrahim said that 19 July is the symbol of brotherhood among peoples and added: "We won’t stop our celebrations. We will celebrate because our people and our military forces have decided to fight against the invasion attacks. This year's celebrations will be the centrepiece. We have invited artists from Bashur Kurdistan and from Europe. We hope the situation will allow them to be with us. We would like to invite international artists as well and we are working on that.”
Ibrahim said that the celebrations could be on the 19 itself or on a different day.
