PYD celebrates Öcalan’s birthday, vowing to increase the struggle for his freedom

The PYD General Assembly celebrated the birthday of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and said that his ideas served the whole world.

The General Assembly of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) released a statement to mark Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan's birthday on April 4.

The statement released on Monday said: “This year, we welcome Öcalan’s birthday at a time when the people's freedom struggle and guerrilla resistance are achieving tremendous success and Turkish fascism is on the verge of collapse. The idea and philosophy that they sought to destroy through an international conspiracy are now spreading all over the world.”

PYD underlined that: “With his ideas, philosophy and struggle, Öcalan protects the values of humanity and social and cultural ideas, and promotes justice, equality, democracy and freedom.”

The statement continued: “Öcalan’s ideas provide insight into a solution to all problems in the Middle East, including the women’s question. He introduced the philosophy of “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Woman, Life, Freedom) that is resonated all over the world today. Öcalan’s ideas serve the whole world. The ideology of freedom represented in Rojava and North and East Syria has become a focal point for the whole world.”

The PYD General Assembly added that ensuring the physical freedom of Öcalan is one of its strategic goals and reiterated its promise to increase the struggle in order to do so.
