Russian jets target ISIS positions in western Deir ez-Zor

Over 20 airstrikes have been carried out by Russian fighter jets in west Deir ez-Zor desert since early morning.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that Russian fighter jets have executed over 20 airstrikes since early morning, targeting positions where ISIS fighters holed up in the areas of al-Shawla and Jabal al-Bishri in west Deir ez-Zor desert.

Meanwhile, regime forces and their proxy militias continue combing campaigns in different areas of the Syrian desert, searching for ISIS cells, but such campaigns have achieved nothing, SOHR said.

On May 13, SOHR reported that Russian jets continued their airstrikes on the Syrian desert, as Russian jets carried out intensive airstrikes since Thursday dawn, targeting Athria desert in the eastern countryside of Hama and the surrounding areas of Jabal al-Bishri at the administrative borders between al-Raqqah and Deir ez-Zor, in an ongoing attempt to put an end to ISIS activity in the region.
