Iraqi border guards kill a young man and injure his father in Sulaymaniyah countryside

In South Kurdistan, a young man was killed and his father was wounded when border guards opened fire in the Sharbajir district of Sulaymaniyah.

According to RojNews, Iraqi border guards opened fire on a kolbar and his son in the village of Surebanî, in the district of Şarbajêr, this morning.

As a result of the attack, 17-year-old Arêz Awat lost his life, while his 43-year-old father, Awat İsmail, was injured.

Local sources report that security forces have detained the soldier who opened fire.

Some sources say that the father and son were trying to take a sealed official shipment through customs to Iran when they were shot.

No official statement has yet been released by authorities in Hewlêr (Erbil) or Baghdad regarding the incident.
