SDF Commander: We have foiled an occupation attempt in Ain Issa

Aziz Xerbisan, one of the Syrian Democratic Forces commanders in Ain Issa, said that an invasion attempt has been frustrated and added, "Fighter jets are shelling civilian areas."

The invading Turkish state and its gangs attacked Ain Issa and its villages with armed unmanned aerial vehicles (SIHA) and warplanes in the morning hours. The invaders bombed Seyda, Mealek, the M4 highway and surroundings of Ain Issa with heavy weapons and targeted an observation point. While some Syrian regime soldiers were injured in the attack, only the SDF forces responded to the attack after the observation point under Russian control was targeted.

Speaking to ANHA, Aziz Xerbisan, one of the SDF commanders in Ain Issa, evaluated the latest attacks of the invading Turkish state and its gangs against Ain Issa and Girê Spî (Tal Abyad).

'WE FOILED AN OCCUPATION ATTEMPT'

Xerbisan stated that the invading Turkish state and its gangs attacked the village of Jahaba, 5 km from Ain Issa, from 04:30 to 05:00 this morning, and shared the following information regarding the attacks; “The invaders attempted to invade the village of Jahaba. They attacked with heavy weapons. We responded to the attacks within the framework of legitimate defense and foiled the invasion attempts. Although the invaders failed, they bombed M4, the surroundings of Ain Issa and the village of Seyda at 07.30. Civilians live in the village of Seyda. The lives of civilians are now in danger.”

'JOINT OBSERVATION POINT TARGETED'

Noting that the attacks increased after the joint checkpoints were established, Xerbisan continued, “An observation point near Sawuma Wheat Warehouse in the east of Ain Issa was targeted. Although the observation point is under the control of Damascus government and Russian troops, there was no response to the attacks. The invaders bombed civilian areas with warplanes. Many regime soldiers were injured. Russia and the regime forces did not respond to the bombardment."

‘RUSSIA AND DAMASCUS GOVERNMENT REMAIN SILENT’

Xerbisan pointed to the mobility and bombardment of warplanes around the city and continued his words as follows; "The occupiers have bombed the city for the first time in a long time. Even now fighter jets and reconnaissance planes fly in the skies of Ayn Issa. Neither warplanes nor attacks will prevail against our will and resistance. We will defend and protect our people and our land from any attack. Attempts to occupy the Ain Issa town will remain in their dreams. Our main task is to defeat the attacks.”

Commander Aziz Xerbisan revealed that the attack is now stalled and the attempts of the occupation forces have been frustrated.

Girê Spî Military Council announced on December 9 that an agreement had been reached with Russia and Damascus government to establish 3 joint military points in the region.

One of these checkpoints was then built 3 km to the east of Ain Issa, another 3 km in the west and the other in the northern neighborhoods of Ain Issa.

Troops from the Girê Spî Military Council, Damascus government forces and Russia were then stationed at these locations, yet the attacks have never ceased since the establishment of the joint checkpoints.
