SDF fighters launched the final phase of the Operation Cizire Storm on September 10. The operation now aims to liberate the city of Hajin, widely seen as the last ISIS stronghold.
SDF fighters entered the al-Sousse town on Monday and have now liberated the Hawi al-Sousse village near the town center.
The SDF issued a written statement and said, “On the second day of our forces entering the al-Sousse town, there are intense clashes between our forces and the ISIS terrorists. The terrorists are hit hard in these clashes as our forces continue to advance. The al-Sousse village near the district center has been liberated.”
The statement said, “Meanwhile, it is just a matter of time before the town center is liberated as our forces have entered most of the neighborhoods.”
