SDF publishes identity of fallen fighter

A SDF fighter was killed in an attack carried out by the Islamic State in eastern Syria.

A fighter from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was killed in an attack carried out by the Islamic State in eastern Syria. The SDF said in a statement on Sunday that the attack happened last Thursday in the small town of Al-Busayrah, south-east of Deir ez-Zor, on the left bank of the Euphrates.

The identity of the fallen fighter is as follows:

Code name: Muhammad

First and last name: Tayseer Salih al-Sarhid

Mother's name: Khalifa

Father's name: Saleh

Year and place of birth: 1984, Deir ez-Zor

Date and place of death: 27 April 2023 / Al-Busayrah

The statement said that “Tayseer Salih al-Sarhid joined the SDF in 2017 after the successful completion of the offensive to liberate Raqqa. After his basic military training, he took part in the final anti-ISIS offensive "Jazira Thunderstorm" and other operations against the Islamic State. He used the combat experience he had gained to successfully complete his training as a commander. As such, he led various operations against ISIS and other terrorist groups.”

The statement added: “We extend our condolences to the family of our friend Muhammad. At the same time, we reaffirm our determination to eliminate terrorism in our regions, taking revenge on all of our fallen from ISIS and its supporters, and continuing our resistance for peace and stability in our country.”
