SOHR: Turkish-backed factions and regime forces swap prisoners in eastern Aleppo

A woman, two young men and other prisoners detained in regime’s prisons have been released in return for the release of several regime soldiers and the bodies of other soldiers who were in the factions’ custody, according to SOHR.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported a prisoners-swap deal between Turkish-backed factions and regime forces. According to the report, a woman, two young men and other prisoners detained in regime’s prisons have been released in return for the release of several regime soldiers and the bodies of other soldiers who were in the factions’ custody. SOHR said that the swap deal took place at Abu al-Zindayn crossing in the countryside of al-Bab city in eastern Aleppo, under supervision of the Syrian Red Crescent.

In July 2020, SOHR confirmed that a prisoner swap took place between the Turkish-backed “National Army” and regime forces nearby Azaz city in northern Aleppo. Accordingly, regime forces released a rebel in return for the release of a woman accused of “spying for the regime forces and Hezbollah”.
