Dikran, who came to Rojava from Armenia and joined the first Armenian Battalion of Syria, said that he is fighting to to prevent the Turkish state from carrying out a new genocide.
Participation in the Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Battalion, the first Armenian Battalion in Syria, which was established by the children of the Armenian people who lived through the genocide carried out by Turkey, is growing. The battalion has been at the forefront in the Rojava Revolution and its defense against the Turkish state and its mercenaries.
Armenian fighter Dikran, who joined the Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Battalion three months ago, spoke to ANF about his experience and motivation.
Stating that he always wanted to come to Rojava, Dikran said: "I came from Armenia three months ago and joined the First Armenian Battalion of Syria. Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Battalion is also a battalion that investigates the history and culture of Armenian people."
Dikran underlined the coexistence of Arabs, Kurds and Armenians and other peoples and beliefs in Rojava and the progress made by the Revolution on women's rights. "The Turkish state wants to repeat what it has already done throughout history. It wants to slaughter people through genocide. The whole world should ask itself 'why is the Turkish state occupying Rojava?' The world public opinion must oppose the Turkish state."
Resistance to the Turkish invasion
Reminding that the Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Battalion is continuing its resistance against the Turkish occupation, Dikran added: "Our battalion continues its efforts to prevent a new genocide of the Turkish state and to protect the unity of the peoples. We are ready to fight against the invading Turkish forces all over Syria and Rojava."
First Armenian Battalion
Martyr Nubar Ozanyan Battalion, the first Armenian battalion of Syria, was established in Til Temir on 24 April 2019, on the 104th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The Armenian battalion, which joined the resistance against the Turkish occupation attacks against Serêkaniyê, is now taking part in the Til Temir resistance.
