Third edition of Children's Peace Festival kicks off in Tabqa
The Children's Peace Festival in Tabqa has reached its third edition this year. The festival started on Thursday with the slogan "We live our childhood freely and peacefully".
The Children's Peace Festival in Tabqa has reached its third edition this year. The festival started on Thursday with the slogan "We live our childhood freely and peacefully".
The third edition of the Children's Peace Festival, organized by the Tabqa executive council and the Tabqa Culture and Art Center, opened on Thursday with the slogan "We live our childhood freely and in peace".
The festival is held at Tabqa Culture and Art Center. The opening saw the participation of representatives of the Democratic Civil administration, military assemblies, political parties, women's administration, revolutionary youth, hundreds of children and their families.
Amir Lenad, a member of Tabqa Culture and Art Center, greeted the participants after a minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs.
'Festival gives high morale to children'
Tabqa Democratic Civil Administration Culture and Art Committee co-chair Eli Elaya congratulated those who contributed to the realisation of the festival and said: "This festival, organized for children affected by war and migration, is a very important work and will bring joy to children as well as develop their educational and artistic tendencies."
'Work for children will continue'
Tabqa Executive Council co-chair Hind El-Ali also stated that children's collective work and artistic activities will encourage all relations and cultures. El-Ali added that the festival will improve children's efforts to establish relations with the environment and express their ideas.
El-Ali also said that organizing the festival for three consecutive years is “a message to the invading Turkish state”, and said that “despite the threats and attacks, the work for children will continue.”
After the speeches, Tabka Culture and Art Center groups presented their work. The groups Koma Zarokên Firatê, Koma Xisin, Koma Hunerên Gelêri, Koma Avesta Xabûr, Koma Kevneşopî ya Kurdî, Koma Cihana Zarokan and Koma Emel took to the stage.
As part of the festival, a theater event was organized for children from the Cirni Culture and Art Center.
On the first day of the festival, Tabqa Culture and Art Center rewarded the teachers.
The festival will last 4 days
The festival will last for 4 days full of activities that will be held in Sefsaf district east of Tabqa and Cirniye district in the northwest of the city today. At the end of the festival, an exhibition of children's paintings will be opened.
