The Turkish army and allied mercenaries continue committing crimes against the people of the northern Syrian canton of Afrin, which they occupied in 2018 in violation of international law.
The Rojava-based Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported on Monday that Turkish-backed mercenaries are imposing a tax on people who have started harvesting olives in the districts of Bilbile, Mabeta and Shera.
In the Mabeta district, the so-called "economic committee” of the Turkish-allied mercenaries imposed a financial sum of 55 thousand US dollars for the olive harvest season, and 10 thousand dollars on the affiliated village of Hise.
In the Bilbile district, the Jaysh al-Nuxba and Sultan Murad mercenaries imposed a tax on olive owners at a rate of 10% of the crop, and 25% of the production on olive production plants.
In the Shera district, the so-called economic committee has confiscated the properties of the displaced people of Afrin who are in Shehba Canton and Europe, in addition to going on tours to impose proportions on the owners of olive groves and presses.
