Co-Chair of the Autonomous Administration of Afrin, Hêvî Mustefa explained how the people of Afrin who fled to Shehba are reorganizing themselves from Afrin.
On March 18, the YPG/YPJ together with the local administration of Afrin evacuated the civilian population from the city and announced a new stage in the fight against the Turkish invasion. The population was evacuated to the canton of Shehba. There, the administrations of the two cantons work together to ensure the supply of the migrants.
The people of Afrin are now organizing in the districts of Fafin, Ehrez, Kefernaya and Tal Rifat in Shehba in the form of councils.
Co-chair of the Autonomous Administration of Afrin, Hêvî Mustefa, told the ANHA news agency about the difficult circumstances in which the people continue their resistance: "The people of Afrin are still waiting for their homeland to be cleared and for themselves to return."
Committees set up to supply the population
Self-government structures were reorganized after the people’s arrival in Shehba, Hêvî Mustefa continued. "In order to ensure the supply of the population, we have reorganized. In cooperation with the administration of Shehba, committees for health, services and municipalities have been set up. These committees work to build camps and distribute water and bread to the people."
No external support
According to Hêvî Mustefa, there has been no outside support for the migrants from Afrin: "Our room for service is therefore very limited".
