A Turkish drone attack in Qamishlo on Wednesday killed YPG fighter Ciwan Oso and two civilians.
The press office of the People's Defence Units (YPG) released a statement providing information on the aftermath of a Turkish drone attack in Qamişlo on Wednesday.
The YPG statement on Friday said: "An armed drone of the Turkish occupying state attacked a vehicle on the road between Qamişlo and Tirbespiyê on 14 June. Two patriots and our fighter Ciwan Oso fell as martyrs in the attack. Our companion Ciwan was on his way home on holiday."
The YPG pointed out that the Turkish state's drone attacks are intended to occupy the autonomous region of northern and eastern Syria. “Since the beginning of the revolution in Rojava, the local people, the YPG/YPJ and the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) have resisted all attacks.
“Neither our resistance against Turkish-backed mercenaries from 2013 to 2016, nor our resistance against the invading Turkish state in Afrin, Serêkaniyê and other regions is forgotten.
“Our people and their immortal sons and daughters are the heroes of this resistance and struggle. young and old alike, all our people are part of this resistance. We are all indestructible and unshakable links in the chain of resistance. The last link of resistance is the fighting spirit of our comrade Ciwan," said the YPG.
According to the YPG statement, Ciwan Oso came from Serêkaniyê and witnessed occupation attacks and the resistance against them already in his childhood. When his city was occupied by Turkey and its mercenary troops in 2019, he had to leave the area together with his family. In his youth, he felt an increasing responsibility for his people and his country. His greatest wish was to return to his birthplace. To fight against the occupiers, he decided to join our ranks.
Our comrade Ciwan Aso was a humble young man who selflessly participated in life and placed great value on developing himself and gaining experience. His dreams and memory will guide us in our resistance against the enemy," stated the YPG, offering condolences to Ciwan Oso's family and their patriotic people.
