YPJ General Command released a statement on the 19th anniversary of the internation plot through which Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan was handed over to Turkey in 1999.

The statement by YPJ General Command said the following;

“We condemn the 19 years of conspiracy practised on Leader APO. We salute with respect Leader APO of the Kurdish people who are defending the people's values, and we state our gratitude to the Afrin resistance. We commemorate our all martyrs in the name of Martyr Avesta, Martyr Amargi and Martyr Barin, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their lands and became a circle of fire around the sun.

In the year 1999, the Leader of the peoples was delivered to Turkey in a treacherous and inhuman method. With the past 19 years, the main aim of the sovereign powers was to arrest Leader APO and eliminate the Freedom Movement from the thought and ideology of Leader APO and to eliminate the struggle and to destroy the reality of resistance, culture and history of the Kurdish people. But the Kurdish people have responded to the conspiratorial forces in all four parts of Kurdistan, especially in the North of Syria, by developing the principle of equality, a democratic and free life developed by Leader APO and reaching the democratic nation paradigm today. The plot on Leader APO passed on the pages of the Resistance history of Kurdish people as the black day.

Leader APO has shown to the whole humanity how the free women and free society are built and the magnitude of the power and purpose that exists for it. He has shown in Imralı that he would prevent any power in front of his freedom once again with his stance of resistance. Leader APO has always given struggle for the success of mankind's stance. YPJ, Women's Protection Units, made up of every nation of women, became one with the Rojava Revolution, and today it has spread in the Northern part of Syria, taking the source of power, confidence and self-existence in the thought and ideology of Leader APO for the Kurdish women. This force, which organizes itself as an army, grows more and more every day and spreads its voice to women all over the world. Women who gather around the sun and reach enlightenment are resisting all kinds of powers and sovereignty today.

The sovereign powers have not received any results from the conspiracy and will not receive. Nowadays, they try to renew and carry on the conspiracy in Afrin. The Turkish state and the fascist collaborators once again showed their dirty faces with their attacks on the lands of Afrin. Against this attack aiming for genocide, the system of Imralı collapsed with the resistance of Martyr Avesta, the women and the Afrin people, and the enemy's attacks on Afrin was frustrated. Leader APO created a free people that protects their existence. The conspiracy was also carried out against this reality. The people of Afrin are the products of this reality. The resistance spirit of the Afrin people shown up to this day from the first day has frustrated the conspiracy.

We as YPJ, give the promise to all the peoples and all the women around the world; we will continue our struggle until our peoples' freedom hopes come true. We as Kurdish women will not be able to live a free life until Leader Apo is free. We see that the peoples’ freedom passes through the collapse of the Imralı system. We will continue to struggle on this basis.

We once again condemn the conspiratorial forces. We once again remember all of our martyrs in the names of Martyr Avesta, Amargi, Barin, and Armanç, who have sacrificed their lives for the values of our people, and we reiterate our respect to Leader APO, our people and the Fighters of Truths who are carrying out the resistance of our era.”
