MSD condemns Shengal massacre

The Syrian Democratic Council demands justice for the Yazidi people of Shengal.

The Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) condemned the Shengal Massacre, which was carried out by the mercenaries of DAESH on 3 August 2014.
In a written statement the MSD demanded those responsible for the massacre be brought to justice.

Underlining that the Yazidi people living in Shengal were exposed to one of the most barbaric massacres of human history, the MSD added: "This massacre was aimed at destroying the identity, culture and belief of the region and at changing the demographic structure of the region. We condemn this barbaric massacre while at the same time greeting the HPG, YPG and YPJ forces, who played an important role in the Shengal resistance and succeed in saving the people from terrorism."

Recalling the ISIS massacre in southern Syrian city of Suwayda, MSD statement added; "The DAESH mercenaries continue to exercise violence under the name of Islam, which on the contrary calls on all beliefs to live together in a brotherly way. The sacred places of Yazidis have been destroyed. In order to stand against radicalism and the anti-humanity mentality, and to prevent these massacres, the international community must bring the perpetrators and supporters of these massacres to account.”
