Sakine Cansız (Sara), Fidan Doğan (Rojbîn) and Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahî), who were murdered in Paris on 9 January 2013,  and Sêvê Demîr, Fatma Uyar and Pakize Nayır, who were murdered during the genocidal attacks in Silopi district of Şirnak on 4 January 2016, were commemorated in Batman. Many women attended the commemoration organised by the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP).

DBP Batman Provincial Co-Chair Mehdiye Demir said, "We have our comrades who illuminate the darkness. We promise that we will stand against oppression."

Mehdiye Demir said, "We state once again that we will fight to the end against the dirty policies that try to cover up these massacres. We condemn the genocidal and misogynist mentality once again. We did not give up, we did not kneel. We have waged an uninterrupted struggle. We will never compromise in this struggle, no matter what the cost.”

DEM Party Batman MP Zeynep Oduncu said that the Paris Massacre took place at a time when peace was being discussed and added: "After the massacre in Paris, a curfew was declared in Kurdistan and massacres were carried out on the streets. The state mind that shot a bullet at peace in Paris attacked women because they are afraid of women. They are afraid of women's resistance. We will resist all attacks. This is our promise to those who were massacred; we will continue to resist no matter what the cost. The address of the solution is currently under isolation in İmralı. If you want this bloodshed to end, let İmralı talks begin."
