Buldan: Isolation on Öcalan is the reason behind today’s attacks

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HPD) MP Pervin Buldan said that the isolation on Abdullah Öcalan and cessation of the negotiations with him is the main reason behind the massacres and attacks today.

Speaking about the isolation on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan at the final event of HDP Women Assembly’s campaign, Pervin Buldan underlined his role in the building of peace in the country.

“We will continue to struggle until Öcalan is free. The main reason behind today’s massacres and attacks is the cessation of negotiations with him. We saw how there was created a peace environment during the negotiations with Öcalan. If we want to prevent the killing of our sons and daughters, if we want to end the conflict, we need to do everything within our power in order for negotiations to be resumed” Buldan said.

Buldan criticized AKP government for its policies against women and said: “The oppression and attacks against women still continue because of AKP’s approach against women. AKP is trying to enslave women and break their will with its hostile politics. We understand that AKP is enemy of women looking at how Figen Yüksekdağ was stripped of her parliamentary duties, how Mother Taybet’s dead body was left out on the street, how guerrilla Ekin Wan’s dead body was exposed, how feminicide increased over time.”

Buldan called on woman to stand against AKP and said she believes that they can frustrate the AKP’s policies.

“It’s time that we discard AKP’s dirty, fascist and massacrist policies. Now November 25 is ahead of us. It’s important that we participate in all demonstrations and meetings. We will cry out to Ankara: We don’t want to be killed and we don’t want to be subjected to gender based violence. Long live the solidarity of women, long live the organized struggle of women” Buldan underlined.
