The European Network of Solidarity with Kurdistan will meet in Rome on 11-12 April.
On 11-12 April, a conference of the European network of solidarity with Kurdistan will be held in Rome to discuss the campaign for the release of President Öcalan, a political solution to the Kurdish question, the condition of the Kurdish people in Turkey and the recognition of the Autonomous Administration of North-East Syria/Rojava.
The promoters wrote: "In recent years, together we have taken important steps in building international solidarity networks across Europe and beyond, by organizing actions, writing letters to key institutions and really bringing this issue to the forefront of international politics and public opinion. Thanks to all your efforts, we have managed to achieve some of our goals. Since December 23, there have been several meetings with Abdullah Öcalan, in which he has emphasized the solution to the Kurdish question. Now, to achieve all our goals, we need to work more together.
Since its inception in October 2023, the campaign has succeeded in bringing together trade unions, social movements, lawyers, jurists, political parties, elected officials, artists, intellectuals, activists, Nobel laureates and millions of Kurds, building solidarity networks at local and international levels. In this way, it has sought to break Öcalan's isolation and make possible a just and democratic political solution to the centuries-old Kurdish question in Turkey, enabling his participation in a new dialogue."
The promoters added: "Through our collective effort over the past year, we have succeeded in putting pressure on the Turkish state and international institutions, creating the conditions to resume meetings with Öcalan. However, as Öcalan stated in the first meeting held in the fall with representatives of the DEM party, his isolation continues. What has become even more evident is Öcalan’s crucial role in finding a political solution to the centuries-old Kurdish question. As the Kurdish question remains the most central contemporary political issue in the Middle East, its peaceful resolution is therefore crucial for the peace and stability of the entire region. Furthermore, by providing a paradigmatic approach to many of today’s most pressing social and political crises, Öcalan’s solutions serve as a roadmap for stability and coexistence in the Middle East."
