HPG: Guerrillas carried out 16 actions against Turkish army bases with drones in June

A guerilla unit carried out 16 actions against the occupying Turkish army with drones between 6-25 June, killing at least 6 soldiers and destroying many positions and tents.

The press centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) released a statement providing information about the actions carried out by the guerrillas against Turkish army bases in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) from the air.

The HPG statement on Saturday said: "The Kurdistan Freedom Guerrilla has restructured itself in the guerrilla struggle of democratic modernity. Our armed struggle, which has been going on for forty years, has reached an important level in terms of tactical and technical sophistication. The resistance successfully mounted by our professional teams in the field and underground has been extended to the airspace of Kurdistan through tactical expansion. In addition to the ability to shoot down armed unmanned aerial vehicles of the genocidal Turkish colonial state, the freedom guerrillas are now also able to attack the Turkish occupying army from the air.”

“Our Şehîd Doğan Zinar Unit, named after our Immortal Self-Sacrificing Commander, Comrade Martyr Doğan Zinar, who was a member of the PKK Reconstruction Committee, HPG Command Council and Central Field Commander, made an important debut in June,” HPG stated.

According to the statement, the bases of the occupying Turkish army in the Şehîd Delîl Western Zap region were hit by the Şehîd Doğan Zinar Unit with drones between 6-25 June. The guerrillas targeted the Turkish bases in Girê Cûdî Resistance Area once, the bases in Girê FM Resistance Area two times and the bases in Girê Amediyê 13 times.

“According to the clarified results of these actions, at least 6 Turkish soldiers were killed, many positions and tents were destroyed, and the bases were extensively devastated,” the statement said.
