JINNEWS: At least 320 women were murdered in Turkey in 2023
According to the figures compiled by JINNEWS, at least 320 women were murdered by men in Turkey in 2023 and 189 women died under suspicious circumstances.
The women's news agency JINNEWS has compiled a 2023 tally on violence against women in Turkey. Accordingly, at least 320 women were murdered last year, and 189 women died under suspicious circumstances. Women were mostly murdered by the men closest to them.
According to the tally, the highest number of femicides took place in November last year with 36 murders. In January 2023, 31 women were murdered. In December, 20 femicides were recorded in the country.
