Journalist Sarunaz Ahmad imprisoned in Iran goes on strike

Journalist Sarunaz Ahmad, who was imprisoned during the ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’ demonstrations, went on strike after being denied medical examination.

Journalist and Child Rights Activist Sarunaz Ahmad, who is imprisoned in Evin Prison in the Iranian capital Tehran, started a strike due to the refusal to allow medical examination.

According to Radio Farda, Sarunaz Ahmad refused to take medication after the prison administration refused to allow her to be examined by a doctor.

Serunaz Ahmet has stopped her anxiety medication and refuses prison health care.

Children's rights activist and journalist Sarunaz Ahmad was detained in November 2022 during the ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadi’ (Woman, Life, Freedom) demonstrations with her husband, Kamyar Fekur. Sarunaz Ahmad was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of ‘propaganda against the state’ and ‘assembly and conspiracy to undermine national security’.
