KJK: The resistance in Van is the Kurdistan struggle for freedom

The KJK called on all of Kurdistan to resist for freedom against the trustee in Van.

The Kurdistan Women's Communities (KJK) Coordination issued a written statement regarding the seizure of Van (Wan) Metropolitan Municipality and the appointment of a trustee.

In its statement, the KJK declared: "We mark the 26th anniversary of the 15 February international conspiracy, the day when Leader Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] was handed over to Turkey and placed under the Imrali genocide regime, with profound anger.

We condemn the conspirators and vow to defeat this conspiracy through resistance. 15 February is the day when a genocide decision was made against the Kurdish people.

For 26 years, our people have been trapped in a genocidal siege and subjected to one of the darkest periods in history. The capture and extradition of Öcalan, timed to coincide with the date Sheikh Said was taken prisoner, was a continuation of the century-old international colonial status established by the Treaty of Lausanne. This policy aimed to eliminate Kurdish leaders, deny the existence of the Kurdish people, and carry out a campaign of annihilation. However, the brave Kurdish people, heroic Kurdish youth, self-sacrificing Kurdish women, and revolutionary internationalist comrades responded with the 'You Cannot Darken Our Sun [Abdullah Öcalan]' uprising. This uninterrupted resistance, which has continued for 26 years, has prevented the conspirators from achieving their goals."

The statement continued: "However, Leader Apo thwarted the conspiracy and genocide. He was the one who broke the Kurdish people free from the 'Kurdish genocide trap' system and introduced the philosophy of 'Live and Let Live' to all oppressed peoples. To achieve this, Leader Apo initiated a great paradigm shift, establishing a foundation for the equal and free unity of all differences. He repeatedly advanced the Peace and Resolution Process, ultimately defeating the genocide regime. Leader Apo emerged as a new sun for our people in the midst of relentless and merciless darkness. This sun will never be darkened. It will continue to rise over these lands as an eternal source of life for peoples, women, and youths."

Erdoğan has imposed a political coup on Turkey’s future

The statement added: "On this basis, Leader Apo developed a new dialogue process to resolve the Kurdish issue and presented his proposals for a solution to all parties. The historical fate imposed on the Kurds has been overturned, and a new geostrategic reality centered on Kurdish freedom has emerged in the Middle East. Against the conspirators who insist on the cycle of genocide, Leader Apo has introduced a cycle of equal and free life for all peoples, creating a great source of hope.

The AKP government has made it clear that it is determined to maintain its genocidal regime against the Kurdish people. It has demonstrated this through the appointment of trustees, the occupation attacks on Rojava, assassinations, and arrests. At this stage, the AKP’s hostility toward the Kurds has now extended to all of Turkey."

The statement underlined that "on 15 February, the brutal attack on Van Municipality and the appointment of a trustee signaled the government's relentless commitment to continuing the genocide regime and extending the 15 February conspiracy. Most importantly, Erdoğan has imposed a trustee on Turkey’s future, staging a fascist coup against the country’s political path. The policy of annihilating the Kurds will bring nothing but destruction to Turkey itself. A dignified and free future is only possible if the Kurdish people are granted an honorable, equal, and free life. Society must recognize this and reject the destruction that Erdoğan is imposing. Now is the time to escalate the democratic struggle to secure a shared future and an honorable peace for all peoples. All leftist socialist groups, women, and youth must mobilize in the strongest and most widespread way to ensure that the hope for peace and reconciliation is not wasted once again."

The women's movement called on "people, brave women, and heroic youth: History has recorded you as the nation of freedom in this new era. You have created the possibility of liberation with your blood, sacrifice, labor, and unwavering humanity. Now, the time has come to carry our homeland to the final victory of freedom. The trustee appointment in Van Municipality was an attack by forces opposing a solution. This must be seen as a direct assault on the Kurdish people's struggle for freedom. Therefore, all of Kurdistan must rise in resistance. Van is Kurdistan. The resistance in Van is the Kurdistan freedom struggle. This resistance is a firm commitment to success on the path of a solution, ensuring the defeat of those who oppose it. The appointment of a trustee in Van is not only a blow to the will of the Kurdish people, but also a continuation of the conspiracy, a new plan of genocide, and a political coup. On this basis, we call on everyone, everywhere, to escalate the resistance, to reject genocide, occupation, and slavery, and to realize true freedom."
