Lebanon: 435 people were killed in the war between Israel and Hezbollah
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 435 people were killed in the war between Israel and Hezbollah in the south of the country.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, between 8 October 2023 and 26 June 2024, 435 people died and 474 were hospitalised with injuries in south Lebanon.
The total number of dead and injured was announced as 1,801. It was reported that 87% of them were male, 95% were Lebanese and 57% were between the ages of 25-44.
Of the injuries recorded, 44% were caused by trauma caused by Israeli bombardment, 35% by explosions and 16% by exposure to chemical products.
The ministry did not make a distinction between fighters and civilians in the reported death toll.
However, according to a balance sheet compiled by L'Orient-Le Jour newspaper, 350 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in nearly nine months of fighting, including those killed in Lebanon and Syria until 26 June.
The ministry's report also includes the number of people displaced from their homes in conflict zones in Lebanon.
Citing the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Ministry of Health said that the number of people displaced from their homes since the start of the conflict reached 95,228, according to a census conducted until 13 June.
