‘The voice of women of Raqqa should be heard’

The women of Raqqa should have a greater role in the solution of Syrian crisis and their voice should be heard, Lina Berekat, spokeswoman for the Syrian Women Council said.

Berakat visited Raqqa after it’s liberated by Syrian Democratic Forces and said that they started efforts to organize women in the area after they lived under the brutal regime of ISIS for more than three years.

“The women of Raqqa were the first victims of ISIS gangs. They were subjected to torture and cruelty. They lived through a tragedy. Now they should have a greater role in the solution of the Syrian crisis and their voices should be heard” Berekat said.

Berakat talked about their plans to organize and educate women of Raqqa and said that as Syrian Women Council they will develop an economic program to help women to have a stronger role in social life.

“If women don’t get free the achievement of freedom will not be complete” Berekat said.
