A woman named Nêrgiz Nasirî has been sentenced to 16 years in prison and 15 years of deprivation of social rights in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
According to a report on the "Voice of Kurdish and Iranian Prisons" website, the 36th Chamber of the Tehran Court of Appeals sentenced Nêrgiz Nasirî to 16 years in prison, 15 years of deprivation of social rights, and a fine of 330 million Iranian rials.
Nêrgiz Nasirî, a Christian living in Tehran, was charged with “conducting propaganda activities against Islamic Sharia law in communication with foreign countries” and “spreading propaganda against the state.”
Nêrgiz Nasirî, arrested in Tehran on November 2, 2024 while one month pregnant, was sent to Evin Prison. She was temporarily released on bail on December 2 of the same year.
The hearings for her trial began on February 14, 2025, at the 26th Branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
