Women in Kobanê commemorate Sakine, Fidan and Leyla

Sakine Cansız (Sara), Fidan Doğan (Rojbîn), Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahî), who were murdered in Paris on 9 January 2013, were commemorated in Kobanê.

The Assembly of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates Canton commemorated the PKK founding member Sakine Cansız (Sara), Fîdan Doğan (Rojbîn) and Leyla Şaylemez (Ronahî), who were murdered by the Turkish state in Paris on 9 January 2013.

Derya Mihemed, member of the Assembly of Martyrs' Families in the Euphrates Canton, read the press statement paying tribute to the three women, and the three victims of the second Paris massacre, which claimed the lives of Emine Kara (Evîn Goyî), Mîr Perwer and Abdurrahman Kızıl on 23 December 2022.

Mihemed said: "Although the power behind the massacres is known, the massacres in Paris have not been uncovered until today. This shows that France has deep ties in these massacres."

Stating that France is also the centre of deadly attacks against the leaders of the women's movement in Europe, Derya Mihemed said: "France is also under direct suspicion. By shedding light on the massacres, it can exonerate itself by prosecuting the real murderers behind the scenes."

Mihemed added, "Justice is the common demand of the Kurdish people, their friends, the public opinion and especially all those who oppose massacres and violence against Kurds. Let them know that we will never remain silent".

After the statement, a film was screened by the Young Women's Union.
