6th Copenhagen Kurdish Film Festival began and will continue until February 12.
The 6th Copenhagen Film Festival will take place between February 8 and 12, and aims to present viewers with works of Kurdish cinema. A total of 12 short and full feature films will represent Kurdistan on Wednesday in Cinemateket; the theater of the Danish Film Institute. Directed by Hussein Hassan Ali, the film Reseba will launch the festival. Reseba tells the story of a young girl that was kidnapped during Shengal Massacre and was later rescued and handed over to her family. The film is centered around the social problems Êzidî people continue to experience in the aftermath of the massacre.
Directors are also expected to participate in the festival. Tahsin Özmen, the young director of the short film “Mast” and Shahram Aldi, the director of “Bîranina Hespen Reş,” are among the directors to participate in the festival. Director Ruken Tekes will also join the festival and talk to viewers after the displaying of her film “The Circle” through Skype.
Organized by the Union of Kurdish Students and Academics (FOKUS-A), the film festival informs Danish society about the political, cultural and social issues that take place in Kurdistan.
