The organizing committee of the European Dersim Festival, led by FEDA, ADEF, and DIK, has announced that preparations are complete for the festival that will take place on 30–31 May.
At its final meeting, the organizing committee made up of FEDA, ADEF, and DIK, confirmed that all preparations for the Alevi Dersim Festival in Frankfurt have been finalized.
The committee called on people from Dersim and their friends to join in strong numbers at the 15th European Dersim Culture Festival, set to be held on 30–31 May at Frankfurt’s Rebstockpark. They emphasized the historical importance of taking ownership of the event.
"Strongly embracing the festival will actively counter the ongoing policies of denial, destruction, and assimilation that are being perpetuated in Dersim," the statement read. The committee called on people to participate with the passion of the Munzur River.
The statement continued: "At the 15th European Dersim Culture Festival, let us gather with the peoples, faiths, and social groups who live in the historic geography of Dersim. Let us carry our culture and faith into the future by voicing our spiritual chants, laments, and songs. Let us sing in our mother tongue, unite our grief through our laments, and bring light to the darkness with our intellectuals and writers. Come, friends—let us stand in strong solidarity, protect our homeland and Dersim, and flow like the Munzur River into our festival in Frankfurt’s Rebstockpark!"
