KON-MED, the umbrella organisation of Kurds in Germany, released a statement calling for strong participation in the 32nd International Kurdish Culture Festival, which will be held in Frankfurt on 21 September 2024.

Emphasising that the festival will be marked by strong messages against the genocide policies of the Turkish state, the statement said: “We will organise our festival at a very important time when the Erdoğan regime is escalating its attacks on Kurdish culture, music and dance. The Erdoğan regime is not only content with drones, warplanes, burning forests, arrests and occupation attacks in order to complete the Kurdish genocide radically.  In order to carry out the genocide at its roots, it is attacking our language, our music, our dance, our national values through which we have preserved our identity for thousands of years.”

The statement drew attention to the aggravated isolation of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and said, “The Turkish state has been challenging us with total incommunicado for 42 months, trampling on its domestic law and the international law in front of our eyes.”

“We have completed all our preparations for our people to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm and colourful national clothes.  In addition to a broad cultural programme for everyone, politicians from different countries and Kurdistan will give their messages against genocide, occupation, isolation and torture policies. Tents for children will also be part of the richness of the festival in a separate programme. Models of Kurdish villages and architecture will be exhibited in special tents,” KON-MED said, and provided the following information about the bus departure times and places:
