Paris Kurdish Cultural Festival starts

The Paris Kurdish Cultural Festival, organised by the Kurdish Democratic Council in France and the Kurdistan Cultural Association started today. The festival will last until 1 June.

The Kurdish Cultural Festival organised by the Kurdish Democratic Council in France (CDK-F) and the Kurdistan Cultural Association (Association et Kulturel de Kurdistan, Komeleya Çand û Hunere ya Kurdistan) has started in Paris on Saturday. The festival, which runs from 25 May to 1 June, is organised in cooperation with the Danielle Mitterrand Foundation, the Municipality of Paris, the Municipality of the 10th arrondissement of Paris, the Municipality of Mant Le Jolie and the Municipality of Montreuil.

Many examples of the rich Kurdish heritage will be exhibited, the threatened Kurdish culture will be promoted, and a message will be sent against cultural assimilation in Paris and cities in the Île-de-France region during the week.

For the festival, the Kurdish community living in France, especially in Paris, was invited to meet with their own culture, and other peoples living in France were invited to discover the Kurds, one of the ancient peoples of Mesopotamia.

The festival highlights the cultural dimension of the Kurdish community in the four parts of Kurdistan. Interaction is encouraged to ensure the stability, development and well-being of the Kurdish people living in France and to build a continuous and constructive dialogue between the Kurds and the people living in France.
