Syrian artists welcome agreement between Abdi and al-Shara

Syrian artists said the agreement between Mazloum Abdi and Ahmed Al-Shara is a step towards unity and preventing further bloodshed.

The agreement signed between Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Commander Mazloum Abdi and the Syrian interim president, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, has been positively received by Syrian artists and writers.

Artist Semih Shiqer shared a message on social media, stating: "We deeply feel the pain of our unarmed civilian citizens on the coastal strip and our Asayish Forces. We also condemn those who committed this brutality. The agreement reached between the SDF and the Syrian government has made us very happy. This agreement is a significant gift to all peoples of Syria, contributing to the construction of a free and united Syria."

A great step forward

Actor Cemal Sileman also commented on the agreement, saying that "the historic meeting between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces is a major step toward the future Syria deserves. Of course, we are different from each other, but ultimately, we are all Syrian citizens, and we are Syrians."

Mazin Al-Natour, co-chair of the Syrian Artists' Union, expressed his support for the agreement by releasing a video clip in which he sang a song in Kurdish and Arabic titled "Raise Your Head, Syria—You Are Free Now."

The signed agreement prevents division

Director Resha Hisham Sharbatji also voiced her satisfaction with the agreement, stating: "First and foremost, I pray for mercy for all of Syria’s innocent martyrs. Of course, all this bloodshed is the price of freedom and liberation. Despite all the destruction we have witnessed recently, today’s Syrian-Kurdish reconciliation gives us a glimmer of optimism."

Novelist Nabil Milhim added: "The signed agreement has prevented further bloodshed and division. This is a very rational moment. I have always believed that Mazloum Abdi is a true patriot and a statesman."
