Kurdish language teachers in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood of Aleppo marked May 15, Kurdish Language Day and vowed to protect their language to the very end as it is subject to heavy repression.
Teacher Nujin Osman put emphasis on the importance of protecting the Kurdish language, saying; “All Kurdish teachers should work with utmost seriousness. The use of a language is the proof of its existence. On this basis, we promise to make the utmost effort for the development of the Kurdish language.”
Another teacher by the name of Şiyar Elo pointed out the threat of disappearance for a folk that cannot use its own language. He said; “We will not give up our language and we will protect it to the very end. We will never allow an assimilation by the enemy.”
Narin Raco, also a teacher of the Kurdish language, said; “We have come to these days thanks to our martyrs. We will follow in their footsteps and protect our language.”
