YPJ fighters defending the Tishrin Dam: The enemy will not be able to break our will

YPJ fighters said that historic resistance is being put up at Tishrin Dam, vowing that they will not compromise on the struggle.

The occupying Turkish state and allied mercenaries have been attacking the Tishrin Dam for 38 days. Located in the Manbij region, Tishrin Dam is 115 kilometres from Aleppo province and 80 kilometres from the Turkish border.  The dam, which is of vital importance as a source of electricity generation, has been under intensive attack for weeks and its service capacity has been reduced to a minimum.

The attacks by the occupation forces have all been repelled by the fighters of the YPG (People’s Defense Units), YPJ (Women’s Defense Units) and SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces).

Speaking to our ANF, YPJ fighters said that historic resistance is being put up at Tishrin Dam.

Attacks have intensified in recent days

Berxwedan Qamişlo, a Kurdish fighter in the ranks of the YPJ, who has been resisting at the Tishrin Dam since the launch of attacks, said, “Attacks by the occupying Turkish state have intensified in recent days. Despite the advanced technology used in the aggression by fighter jets, drones and heavy weaponry, all their atatcks have been repulsed so far thanks to historic resistance. The occupying forces suffered casualties and fled the area, leaving their military equipment behind.”

Berxwedan Qamişlo stated that the people's unwavering support at the dam and their commitment to defend their water, dam and country boosted the moraleof the fighters, adding: “We draw strength from our people who have organized themselves in line with the Revolutionary People's War. Their rally at Tishrin Dam bolsters the fighters. This is the very essence of the Revolutionary People's War. Peoples claim their land by resisting. Every single member of our people should join the resistance with all their strength.”

'The advanced technology of the occupying Turkish state cannot defeat our will'

Şîraz Nîdal, an Arab fighter of the YPJ, drew attention to the morale and enthusiasm of YPJ, YPG and SDF fighters, saying, “Despite the limited means at our disposal, the advanced technology of the occupying Turkish state cannot defeat our will. Although they attack intensely from the air and land, they return regretting each attack. Our resistance and will are superior to their technique. If they think that they can break our will with their warplanes, drones and heavy weapons, they are wrong. We have always resisted, and we will not compromise on the struggle.”

Commending the support of masses who have been holding a vigil at the dam for days, Şîraz Nîdal said: “The peoples are united in the Revolutionary People's War. They are in Tishrin today to protect their water, dam and country. This attitude gives morale and strength to the fighters. We are the sons and daughters of this people. The popular resistance has once again shown that we are the children of an unrelenting people. Therefore, the enemy will not be able to break our will and we will win by resisting.”

Şîraz Nîdal stressed that the occupying Turkish state has not given the peoples anything other than persecution, pain and oppression, and called on the people of Northern and Eastern Syria to stand in solidarity and unity.
