Twenty-one people, 20 of them journalists, like Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) co-chair Serdar Altan, Xwebûn newspaper editor-in-chief Mehmet Ali Ertaş, JINNEWS director Safiye Alagaş, JINNEWS editor Gülşen Koçuk, Mesopotamia Agency (MA) editor Aziz Oruç and Ömer Çelik, were brought to Diyarbakır Courthouse with the request to extend their detention on Saturday.
The journalists brought to the courthouse were kept in handcuffs for a long time. Only after they protested, were the handcuffs removed. The court decided to extend the custody period for another 4 days.
This means the journalists will now be kept in custody for 8 days. The decision to restrict the files of journalists held in solitary cells in Diyarbakır Police Department continues.
