The news agency's website can be accessed at "www.mezopotamyaajansi41.com."

Arbitrary access ban on Yeni Yaşam newspaper

Yeni Yaşam newspaper issued a statement regarding the access ban imposed on their website by the Diyarbakır 2nd Criminal Court of Peace on 19 and 21 December.

The statement said that the Court blocked access to the paper’s website twice based on an arbitrary opinion of the Diyarbakır Gendarmerie Command.

The statement added: "According to the reasoning behind the decision we received, the access ban was imposed completely arbitrarily. The Diyarbakır 2nd Criminal Court of Peace issued the access ban following an application by the Diyarbakır Gendarmerie Command. However, it was not specified which article the Gendarmerie objected to. It was observed that the Gendarmerie Command, acting as if it were the court itself, claimed that the article in question was 'misleading the public and creating unfair and negative perceptions against the Republic of Turkey.' The court issued its decision entirely in line with the Gendarmerie's opinion. This decision effectively implemented the provisions of the 'Influence Agent Law,' which has not yet come into force, resulting in an access ban based on a non-existent legal precedent."

The statement further noted that "the Gendarmerie Command also made baseless claims, alleging that the news article in question constituted propaganda for an illegal organization. They claimed the article contained terms like ‘PKK/TKPML-TİKKO’ and said that this constituted propaganda for these groups."
