As part of the investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, raids were carried out on houses and media outlets in many cities on 8 June 2022, and 22 people, 20 of them journalists, were detained.
Among those detained, JINNEWS Director Safiye Alagaş, Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DGF) Co-chair Serdar Altan, Mesopotamia Agency (MA) editor Aziz Oruç, Xwebûn Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Ali Ertaş, journalists Zeynel Abidin Bulut, Ömer Çelik, Mazlum Doğan Güler, İbrahim Koyuncu, Neşe Toprak, Elif Üngür, Abdurrahman Öncü, Suat Doğuhan, Remziye Temel, Ramazan Geciken, Lezgin Akdeniz and Mehmet Şahin. They were arrested on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization" by the court on 16 June.
A statement will be made in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse on the occasion of the first anniversary of the arrest of journalists.
Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform (MKGP) and Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) will make a statement in front of the courthouse on 16 June at 11.30 am.
MKGP and DFG said: "We are meeting to say 'free press will not bow' on the anniversary of the arrests of our colleagues."
