ANF journalist Ali Barış Kurt was sentenced to 2 years 4 months and 3 days in prison by the 2nd Ankara High Criminal Court, and the sentence has been approved by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice 4th Criminal Division today.

The verdict reads: “The sentencing is not inappropriate save for criticism, and thus the defendant’s demand for appeal is found unsuitable. The appeal has been unanymously rejected a limine, according to the first sentence of the Article 280/1-a in the Law of Criminal Proceedings No.5271.”

The indictment against Kurt included his social media posts and journalistic activities.
