Burhan Hısım, one of the 5 prisoners tortured because he did not join the standing count risks to lose his left eye.
Ramazan Adıbelli, who has been detained for 25 years in Tuşba in Van T Type Closed Prison told his family on the phone that the prisoners were tortured by the guards.
The prisoner, who spoke with his elder brother Davut Adıbelli on the phone, said that they were exposed to the attack of the guards and were placed in isolation cells because they refused to join the standing count 10 days ago. Davut Adıbelli said that he had spoken to his brother on the phone two weeks ago and then no more calls came. When Ramazan finally called, he told his brother that they had been punished.
Davut Adıbelli said that his brother told him that they were taken to the hospital and received a torture report after the incident.
Ramazan Adıbelli told his brother: "They have beaten me and 5 friends. Our 27-year-old friend Burhan Hısım and I were left in bad condition. Our friend Burhan may lose his left eye. I was beaten on my back and abdomen. Then the beating stopped. They always attack in this way. After the incident, they brought us into an isolation cell. Then they came and apologized to us. They wanted the incident not to be reported outside. All of them came to apologize, including the director. But we have assault reports. We will complain. It is not the first time that we experience something like this."
We contacted the prison but were told that they couldn't give any information because there was no authorized person to do so.
