Books in Patnos Prison confiscated

Yasin Yılmaz, who is held in L Type Closed Prison in Agrî's Patnos district, said in a telephone conversation with his family that an investigation has been opened against some prisoners. He said that some books allowed in by the prison administration were confiscated during ward raids.
Yılmaz said: “They opened an investigation into books they allowed in themselves. The investigation involved some 50 prisoners. As a result of the investigation, the release of several friends was held back. The books were confiscated and the investigation launched on the grounds that 'the books keep the consciousness of Kurdishness and Kurdistan alive'.
