The IHD published a video to demand justice and the truth for all those who disappeared while in custody of state’s forces. This week, IHD Branch executive, lawyer Hasan Yalçın, demanded justice and truth for Nihat Aydoğan, who was detained by Turkish soldiers in Midyat District Station in December 1994. Since then no news about his fate had been received.
Yalçın said: "Soldiers and village guards from Midyat District Gendarmerie Station raided Nihat Aydoğan's home in the morning. Nihat Aydoğan's wife Halime Aydoğan opened the door, thinking it might be her.
She was confronted by 20-30 soldiers and village guards who entered the house, kicked Nihat Aydoğan out of bed and battered him in front of his children. They tied Nihat Aydoğan's eyes and hands and forced him on his knees.
The soldiers and village guards surrounded the house, and Nihat Aydoğan was taken from the house and first dispatched to the Midyat District Gendarme Station and then to the Mardin Central Command.
Nihat Aydoğan suffered 15 days of torture at Mardin Central Gendarme Command.”
Aydoğan’s family had knocked all doors demanding to know what happened to Nihat, said Yalçın, but the searches have been inconclusive.
