Political prisoner Kaiytbey not treated after torture

Political prisoner Mizgin Kayitbey, who was tortured by 30 guards last week in Patnos L-Type Prison, is not being treated. Talking with her family by phone, Kayitbey said that she was worried about her safety and called for sensitivity.

Political prisoner Mizgin Kayitbey, held in Patnos L Type Prison, was subjected to verbal and then physical attacks by 30 male guards on the day she was taken to court last week. Kayitbey was hospitalized due to loss of consciousness as a result of the blows she received. The family of Kayitbey said she was treated at the hospital but was then sent back to the prison without being fully treated. They added that her condition was not good due to problems such as fractures, cuts, bleeding and bruises, and applied to the IHD Istanbul Branch for legal assistance.

Taken back to prison despite the injuries

Kayitbey, has been sentenced to life and her appeal is on. She could not attend the trial because of the beating last week and the hearing was postponed to September. The woman made a phone call to her family for the first time after the torture she was subjected to. She told her family she was not well and was not even able to put on her clothes because of the bruises. Kayitbey called for sensitivity, adding that torture in prison is not only applied to her, but to many political prisoners.

Kayitbey's family said they are worried and will pursue the denounce legally.
