Political prisoners in Kürkçüler F Type Prison apply to be transferred to Imralı

Political prisoners staying in Kürkçüler F Type Prison apply every week to be transferred to Imralı.

The alternating hunger strikes launched in prisons in order to support the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish question" campaign carried out internationally for the freedom of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan continues on its 38th day.

The prisoners staying in Adana Kürkçüler F Type High Security Closed Prison requested to be transferred to İmralı Island.

Ahmet Herdem (36), one of the political prisoners, said in the weekly phone call with his family that they requested to be transferred to İmralı Prison every week to break the isolation.

Herdem said: “There is isolation imposed on the leadership and there is resistance against it in every field. We are on hunger strike. We are going on a hunger strike for 5 days alternately. Like all our friends involved in different prisons, we request to be transferred to İmralı Prison in an attempt to break the isolation."

Prisoner Ahmet Herdem called for public awareness about the hunger srike.
