The odyssey of ill prisoner Sabri Kaya continues

The odyssey of ill prisoner Sabri Kaya continues: the man was sent back to prison after being told that there were no beds available in Adana hospital.

Despite the fact that Sabri Kaya, a seriously ill prisoner held at Osmaniye No. 2 T Type Closed Prison, was transferred to Adana City Hospital on 6 May, he was actually not accepted in due to “lack of personnel”.

Apparently Kaya, who was taken to Adana City Hospital 6 days after the referral date, was sent to the prison again by the cardiology doctor who said he had no beds and added that Kaya's condition did not required hospitalisation.

Kaya's daughter Dilan Kaya said that the decision to transfer her father to Adana City Hospital was taken on 6 May but her and the lawyers were notified that the transfer actually happened on 12 May.

Stating that her father's condition worsened on Sunday, she was informed that he was taken to the Osmaniye State Hospital emergency and then back to prison. He was taken to the same hospital on Monday and then he was referred to Adana City Hospital.

Kaya said: "He went to the hospital for two days. I talked to the cardiology doctor at the hospital. He told me that he could not take him there as there are coronavirus cases. He agreed that prison conditions are clearly not good and added he should be sent home."

The doctor also said that the Health Board will not meet due to coronavirus and they will have to wait after Ramadan. Dilan Kaya said: "He told me he could not take him in and he sent him back to prison."

Dilan Kaya once again demanded that her after is released.
