35-year-old Kurdish civilian fatally shot by the Iranian police

According to KHRN, the officers fired at Mohammad Azizi at close range while attempting to arrest him. Witnesses reported that he was hit by three bullets in the shoulder and abdomen, resulting in his death.

Mohammad Azizi, a 35-year-old Kurdish civilian from Qasr-e Shirin, Kermanshah Province, was fatally shot by law enforcement officers at the Parvizkhan border terminal in the city on the evening of 5 January, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) reported.

According to KHRN, the officers fired at Azizi at close range while attempting to arrest him. Witnesses reported that he was hit by three bullets in the shoulder and abdomen, resulting in his death.

Following the incident, Azizi’s body was taken to Hazrat-e Abolfazl Hospital in Qasr-e Shirin. There is no information yet on whether his body has been handed over to his family.

Azizi had reportedly been involved in a confrontation with law enforcement officers the previous week, and on the night of the shooting the officers went to the Parvizkhan border terminal with the intention of making an arrest.
