Hundreds of civilians were murdered by the state forces during curfews in Şırnak, Silopi and Cizre. The number of people massacred in basements in Cizre is still not conclusive, while hundreds of people who haven’t been identified have been buried in different cemeteries.
In the state forces’ attacks along with the curfews, hundreds of bodies from Şırnak, primarily from Cizre district, were brought to the Institution of Forensic Medicine set up at Habur Border Gate for autopsies. During the autopsies carried out there, many bodies were found to be burned and families recorded that many bodies exhibited signs of torture.
56 unidentified bodies brought to the Habur Border Gate since the curfews started in December 2015 have been buried in cemeteries of the nameless in Ofis and Yenişehir neighborhoods and Tilqebin town of Silopi.
