HPG Media Center issued a written statement on recent guerrilla actions and Turkish army attacks.

ACTION BY YJA STAR GUERILLAS

HPG stated that YJA STAR forces carried out an action from two directions against the soldiers at the Serê Sevê and Hill Ortê outposts in Hakkari’s Çukurca district at 10:30 on July 6. Guerrillas from the first direction carried out an assassination action against the soldiers at the Hill Ortê outpost, which left 1 soldier dead. Guerrillas from the second direction targeted the soldiers at the Serê Sevê outpost but the number of dead and injured soldiers couldn't be clarified. Turkish soldiers shelled the nearby Çiyayê Reş region and caused a fire in the Latê Kewa area.

COUNTER-GUERILLA NAMED MEHMET GENÇ PUNISHED

HPG announced that YJA STAR guerrillas caught and punished a counter-guerrilla named Mehmet Genç who has been carrying out acts hostile to Kurdish people and the Freedom movement near the Hakkari-Van road at 00:00 on July 5. YJA STAR guerrillas also destroyed Genç’s vehicle.

1 SOLDIER KILLED ON MESKAN HILL

Guerrillas carried out another assassination action against the soldiers on Hakkari’s Meskan hill at 18:30 on July 6. One soldier was killed here.

ARMORED VEHICLE DESTROYED

The Media Center stated that guerrillas carried out a sabotage action targeting an armored vehicle on the road near the villages of Xoşev and Güzeldere in between Hakkari and Van at 10:20 on July 6, and destroyed the vehicle. While the numbers of dead and injured soldiers couldn't be clarified, Turkish forces removed the wreckage of the destroyed vehicle from the area after the action.

ACTION IN ÇATAK

HPG stated that guerrillas carried out an action against the soldiers at the Tıngê outpost in Van’s Çatak district at 05:00 on July 6. The number of dead and injured soldiers couldn't be clarified, and the guerrillas blocked the road between Çatak and Siirt’s Pervari district between 05:00 and 16:00 in order to check IDs.

OPERATION IN BEYTÜŞŞEBAP

HPG Media Center said Turkish warplanes bombarded the area near the villages of Geznex and Germaw in Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap district and soldiers launched an operation in the area at 22:00 on July 4. The operation ended on July 5, and the HPG lost communication with a group of guerrillas in the region. HPG said they will inform the public when more information on the operation emerges.

4 GUERILLAS MARTYRED

HPG stated that the Turkish army launched a comprehensive operation in Kars’ Sarıkamış district at 08:00 on June 30, and heavy clashes broke out between the soldiers and the guerrillas in the area. Two soldiers were killed, 6 soldiers got injured, and 4 guerrillas fell as martyrs during the clashes. The operation ended on the night of June 30.
