Co-mayors of Mardin's Mazıdağı district, Necla Yıldırım and Ali Özkan, have been removed from post on an instruction from the Ministry of Interior. The removal of the co-mayors has been linked to the car bomb attack that targeted the Cevizli Gendarmerie Outpost in Cewzat village of Mazıdağı on 9 July.

The Minister of Interior hold the co-mayors responsible for the attack “because the car used in the attack belongs to the municipality”, although the police was already informed that the car had been stolen from the municipality.
