HPG guerrilla Şoreş Roni spoke to ANF about Cumali İnce (Ceyhun Dirin) who was martyred in Hakkari's Şemdinli area in 2016. Roni said that Cumali İnce was a pioneering guerilla leader for them. “Comrade Cumali joined the freedom guerilla in the 2000s. At that time, fractions that attempted to purge others were dominant and he carried out a great struggle against them. After this struggle, he moved to the Dersim field where he spent at least 6-7 years taking part in practical work. I met comrade Cumali in the fall of 2012. He had a sincere and honest attitude even when we first met. Cumali was of Turkish origin. He inspired us with his speeches. His conversations were always about the life of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. He used to talk about how he got to know and how he was influenced by Öcalan. The fact that Cumali was of Turkish origin and joined the PKK after he was influenced by Öcalan impressed us pretty much. He was a pioneering guerilla leader for us with his comradeship and attitude in life.”
Roni pointed out that Cumali Ince put up great labor in the Şemdinli region. “Cumali İnce used to remain on battlefields. He was always asking to be assigned to scenes of armed conflicts. He had a great grudge against the enemy. He knew how to fight. He had a great interest in the Kurdish people. When a new friend came, he would introduce her/him to party morality and party life. All our friends used to like him. In 2016, comrade Cumali fought heroically with a group of other friends in a conflict with the enemy. I respectfully commemorate our friend Cumali and all those who fell martyr along with him.”
