Defend Kurdistan Initiative continues its talks in Sulaymaniyah

The Defend Kurdistan Initiative which includes international members from many countries has visited the Tevgera and the Kurdistan Communist Party (Hizba Shiu) in the city of Sulaymaniyah in southern Kurdistan.

The Defend Kurdistan Initiative continues its visits to raise concern over the recent invasion attacks of the Turkish army in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) and to develop a dialogue between the Kurdish forces.

The initiative has visited Tevgera Azadi (Freedom Movement) and discussed the increasingly ongoing invasion attacks.

“We support the Kurdish people and came to help them in an attempt to avoid a Kurdish civil war,” initiative member Niko Vogel said during the meeting on Tuesday.

Vogel expressed that they are also pleased with the activities of women. “We hope it will progress even more. Because the freedom of society relies on the freedom of women,” he added.

Tevgera Azadî co-chair Mihemed Abdullah stated that they are happy with the visit, “We are also sorry for the obstacles you have encountered in Hewler,” he added.

Abdullah stated that they have been fighting for years and that they have achieved gains thanks to Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Speaking after, Tara Hisên, co-chair of the Freedom Movement, said, “Kurdish people need the support of the peoples of Europe. Since states protect each other's interests, peoples should protect each other as well.”

The Defend Kurdistan delegation also visited the Kurdistan Communist Party. After a meeting held at the party building, Niko Vogel said, “We have exchanged our thoughts on the latest situation in Kurdistan. We have a lot in common with each other particularly against the Turkish state's occupation.”

Osman Zindani, the Communist Party's Sulaymaniyah Committee head, said, "The visit of this delegation is against occupation. We take pride in the support they give to the legitimate demands of the Kurdish people.”
