Gerîla TV releases footage of revolutionary operation in Zap

A short video of the large-scale revolutionary operation carried out by the guerrillas in the Zap region on 17 February has been released.

Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas carried out the Şehîd (Martyr) Doğa Viyan Revolutionary Operation in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq) on February 17. The operation, named after the YJA-Star guerrilla Doğa Viyan who died last October, was directed against the Turkish occupation forces in the Girê Cûdî resistance area in the western Zap region.

During the course of the operation, guerrillas stormed the positions of the Turkish army at Girê Cûdî, confiscated large quantities of weapons and destroyed the remaining equipment. During the operation, 37 Turkish soldiers were killed, including a captain and several non-commissioned officers, while HPG guerrilla Şervan Varto fell a martyr.

The online portal Gerîla TV released a video of a large-scale operation by the People's Defense Forces (HPG) and Free Women’s Troops (YJA Star). The one-and-a-half-minute clip is just one part of the video accompaniment to the revolutionary operation, as a result of which the guerrillas completely overran and conquered the Turkish base on the hill.

The guerrillas are seen entering positions and containers with great speed, setting them on fire, confiscating and using an A4 gun belonging to the Turkish army and calling on the soldiers to "surrender".

The guerrillas, who completely captured the base belonging to the Turkish army, are seen shouting "agir girte Romê (Rom is on fire)", "agir kete dilê Ankara (Fire has fallen into the heart of Ankara)", "ev der Girê Cûdî ye ketin heye derketin nîne (This is Girê Cûdî, there is entry and no exit)", "Murat Karayılan's instruction: You will die, soldier!".

The video ends with the words "The movie is not over yet".

Gerîla TV is expected to share detailed footage soon.
